Gravun vs Housecall Pro: The Seat Cliff and What It Costs You (2026)
TL;DR: We will start with the part that does not flatter us. Housecall Pro's base plans are cheaper than Gravun's Professional tier at most team sizes. Essentials is $149 a month annually for five users; five Gravun Professional seats is $295. If base price is your only criterion, Housecall Pro wins that line.
Two things complicate it. First, Basic and Essentials cannot add users at all — extra seats exist only on Max. Your sixth hire does not cost $35; it costs a jump from $149 to $299. Second, Housecall Pro publishes prices for almost none of its add-ons, and calling, pipeline, campaigns and proposals are all add-ons.
Housecall Pro is the better buy for a stable small crew doing straightforward service work. Gravun makes more sense when your headcount moves, or when the things Housecall Pro sells separately are things you use daily.
Starting with the part that favours them
Housecall Pro publishes its pricing, which already puts it ahead of several competitors in this category. Here it is, alongside ours.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Users included | Additional users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Housecall Pro Basic | $79 | $59 | 1 | Not available |
| Housecall Pro Essentials | $189 | $149 | 5 | Not available |
| Housecall Pro Max | $329 | $299 | 8 | $35 per user/month |
| Gravun Starter | $25 per user | Per seat | $25 | |
| Gravun Professional | $59 per user | Per seat | $59 | |
| Gravun Scale | $99 per user | Per seat | $99 | |
Housecall Pro charges a flat base fee with seats bundled in. Gravun charges per seat with no base fee. These are different shapes, and comparing headline numbers without doing the arithmetic produces nonsense. So here is the arithmetic, using annual pricing on both sides.
| Team size | Housecall Pro | Gravun Starter | Gravun Professional |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 user | $59 (Basic) | $25 | $59 |
| 5 users | $149 (Essentials) | $125 | $295 |
| 8 users | $299 (Max) | $200 | $472 |
| 15 users | $544 (Max + 7) | $375 | $885 |
Read that honestly: on base subscription alone, Housecall Pro is cheaper than Gravun Professional at every size above one user. If you want a field service tool and nothing else, that is a real advantage and we are not going to argue it away.
The comparison changes when you look at what each base price contains — which is the rest of this article.
The seat cliff
This is the single most important number in any Housecall Pro evaluation, and it is easy to miss.
Additional user logins are available on Max only. Housecall Pro's own help documentation lists "Additional logins (available only for MAX plans)" among its add-ons. Basic and Essentials are not "cheaper per seat" — they are hard caps at one and five users.
What that means in practice. You are on Essentials at $149 a month with five people. You hire a sixth. There is no $35 seat to add. Your only route is Max at $299 a month — a $150 monthly increase, or $1,800 a year, triggered by one hire. You then have eight seats, so hires seven and eight are free, and the ninth costs $35.
Whether that matters depends entirely on how your headcount behaves. A stable five-person shop never touches the cliff. A company that runs five in winter and nine in summer hits it every year, and cannot step back down mid-term without losing the seats.
Per-seat pricing has the opposite shape: linear, no cliffs, and it flexes both directions month to month. That is worth something to a seasonal trade and worth nothing to a stable one. Know which you are before comparing.
What is not in the base price
Housecall Pro sells a substantial list of capabilities separately: CSR AI, the Sales Proposal Tool, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Business Coaching, Voice, Campaigns, vehicle GPS and dashcams, Tap to Pay, and Websites.
We could not find published prices for almost any of them. We checked the product page for each add-on individually. The only dollar figures we found were:
- Voice: call tracking from $45 a month plus overages; VoIP and call tracking from $65 a month plus overages, with minute packages up to $350 a month for 6,000 minutes.
- Sales Proposal Tool: described as a "$40/mo value" and included in Max. That is a stated value, not a confirmed standalone price.
So the honest statement is: Housecall Pro's base pricing is transparent and its add-on pricing largely is not. If your workflow needs two-way calling, a sales pipeline and email campaigns, you cannot build a total cost without a sales conversation — and those three are included in Gravun Professional at $59 a seat.
A worked example, using the one add-on price we could verify. A six-person shop on Housecall Pro Max at $299 plus Voice with VoIP at $65 is $364 a month before Pipeline, Campaigns or CSR AI, whose prices we cannot quote. Six Gravun Professional seats is $354 with calling, pipeline and campaigns included. That is roughly parity — and it inverts the base-price comparison entirely.
One caveat on our own figures: Housecall Pro's pricing page renders some values client-side and has a team-size toggle, so displayed prices may vary with selection. Check the live page against your own team size before deciding.
Where Housecall Pro is genuinely better
- Base price at small scale. Demonstrated above. At five users doing straightforward service work, $149 is hard to beat.
- Scale and track record. Housecall Pro claims over 200,000 pros and a community of 30,000+. That is a large, established user base and a lot of accumulated product refinement.
- No long-term contracts. Their pricing FAQ states they do not require long-term contracts — the same posture as ours, and notably better than the enterprise end of this category.
- Payment processing rates. Card processing from 2.59% and ACH at 1% are competitive, and published, which many competitors do not do.
- Trial generosity. Fourteen days with full Max features and no credit card. You get the top tier to evaluate, not the bottom one.
- Consumer-facing polish. The customer booking and communication experience is mature and well-regarded.
Where Gravun is better
- Seats flex in both directions. Per-seat pricing with no tier caps. Add one in June, drop one in November.
- Everything priced on one page. No add-on where you have to ask what it costs.
- Calling is in the product. Two-way calling, a power dialer for working a list, and AI call summaries. On Housecall Pro this is the Voice add-on at $45–$65 a month plus per-minute overages.
- Sales pipeline included. Multi-pipeline support, lead scoring, forecasting, lead routing, commission tracking and an agent leaderboard. Housecall Pro's Pipeline is a separate add-on.
- Campaigns included on Professional. Bulk messaging and native email marketing, versus the Campaigns add-on.
- Team chat. A channel per job that archives when the job closes.
- AI with an approval gate. Human approval before anything reaches a customer, PII redaction before data leaves for the AI provider, visible token cost, quiet-hours enforcement.
- Multi-currency and white-label. 29 currencies, and white-label branding on Scale.

How to decide
Choose Housecall Pro if
- Your headcount is stable and sits comfortably under a tier cap.
- Field service is the whole job — schedule, dispatch, invoice, collect — and you do not need a sales pipeline or outbound calling.
- Base subscription cost is the deciding factor.
- You value the largest user community in the category.
Choose Gravun if
- Your team size moves seasonally, or you are about to cross the five-user line.
- You want calling, pipeline and campaigns without assembling a quote from add-ons.
- You want every price on one page before you commit.
- You run multiple locations or brands, or bill in more than one currency.
- You want AI in the workflow with a human approving anything customer-facing.
The five-minute exercise that settles it
Write down your headcount today and your likely headcount in twelve months. Then list every capability you will actually use this quarter. Price both platforms against that list, including add-ons, and ask Housecall Pro for written prices on any add-on you need. If your team is stable and your list is short, they will probably win. If your team moves or your list is long, we probably will. Both trials are 14 days with no card, so you can check rather than guess.
FAQ
How much does Housecall Pro cost?
Housecall Pro publishes three plans. Basic is $79 a month, or $59 on annual billing, and includes one user. Essentials is $189 a month, or $149 annually, and includes five users. Max is $329 a month, or $299 annually, includes eight users and allows additional users at $35 per month each. Most add-on products do not have published prices.
Can you add users to Housecall Pro Basic or Essentials?
No. Additional user logins are available only on the Max plan, according to Housecall Pro's own help documentation. Basic caps at one user and Essentials caps at five. Growing past five users requires upgrading from Essentials at $149 a month to Max at $299 a month on annual billing, a $1,800 annual increase.
Is Gravun cheaper than Housecall Pro?
On base subscription, usually not. At five users, Housecall Pro Essentials is $149 a month annually against $295 for five Gravun Professional seats, though Gravun Starter at $125 is lower than both. Gravun becomes competitive once you need capabilities Housecall Pro sells separately, such as two-way calling, a sales pipeline or email campaigns, which are included in Gravun Professional.
What does Housecall Pro charge for add-ons?
Housecall Pro publishes very little add-on pricing. The Voice add-on starts at $45 a month for call tracking or $65 a month for VoIP with call tracking, both plus per-minute overages. Prices for Pipeline, Campaigns, CSR AI, Payroll, Accounting, Websites and vehicle GPS are not published on their product pages, so a total cost requires contacting sales.
Does Housecall Pro require a contract?
No. Housecall Pro's pricing FAQ states it does not require long-term contracts. It offers a 14-day free trial with full Max features and no credit card required.
