Gravun vs Workiz: What You Get Before the Add-Ons (2026)

Published September 19, 2026 · Gravun Team · Comparisons

TL;DR: Workiz is a capable field service platform with genuine HVAC credentials — it is a preferred vendor for American Standard, Trane, Carrier and Bryant. That is a real endorsement no amount of marketing buys.

Two things make it hard to evaluate. Its pricing page carries no prices, only "Request pricing" buttons; the figures we cite below come from the llms.txt file Workiz publishes for AI crawlers, which lists Standard at $275 and Pro at $325 per month annually, each for five users. And its comparison table marks whole feature blocks "Included" that are actually inside paid add-ons — two-way texting is not available at base price.

Gravun publishes $25, $59 and $99 per user per month with SMS, calling, pipeline and campaigns in the platform.

What Workiz costs, and where that number comes from

Workiz's pricing page shows three tiers — Standard, Pro and Ultimate — and no prices. Every tier carries a "Request pricing" button. We checked the page source directly; there are no figures embedded and hidden, there are simply no figures.

There is one place Workiz does publish numbers, and it is an unusual one: the llms.txt file at the root of its domain, a file published for AI crawlers to read. It states:

"Pricing & Plans: Standard ($275/mo annual, 5 users), Pro ($325/mo annual, 5 users, adds AI tools), Ultimate (custom). 7-day free trial, no credit card required. Communications (phone system) and Workiz Pay sold separately as add-ons."

Treat this figure carefully and verify it. It is first-party — Workiz wrote it — which makes it far better sourcing than the content farms in this category. But it is an AI-facing file, not the human-facing pricing page, and files like these can drift from what sales actually quotes. Confirm with Workiz before making a decision on it. We are citing it because it is the best available source, not because it is definitive.

Comparing to Gravun at five users, using annual pricing on both sides:

Plan5 users / monthNotable inclusions
Workiz Standard$275Core FSM. No two-way SMS — that is inside the paid phone add-on. 5 automations.
Workiz Pro$325Adds multi-location, roles and permissions, Genius Leads and Scheduling, custom reports. 10 automations.
Workiz UltimateCustomAdds flat rate, inventory, franchise management, Open API, Zapier. 30 automations.
Gravun Starter$125Full CRM, pipeline, invoicing, payments, follow-up sequences, two-way SMS.
Gravun Professional$295Adds campaigns, advanced automation, lead scoring, lead routing, multi-location, custom reporting.
Gravun Scale$495Adds AI actions, white-label, API and webhooks, invoicing automation.

We could not verify Workiz's per-additional-user cost above five, its monthly (non-annual) pricing, or any add-on price. Those are genuine gaps, not omissions in our favour — Workiz publishes none of them.

The comparison-table trap

This one is worth understanding before you evaluate Workiz, because it is easy to read the table backwards.

Workiz's own pricing page has a feature comparison with three whole sections labelled "(sold separately)": Genius Phone, Genius Answering and Genius Marketing. Inside those sections, every row shows "Included" across Standard, Pro and Ultimate.

That does not mean your plan includes them. It means those capabilities are included within the paid add-on, at all tiers. The rows are describing what the add-on contains, not what your subscription contains.

The practical consequence is significant: two-way texting sits inside Genius Phone, so Workiz has no two-way SMS at base price. Same for the AI receptionist (Genius Answering) and email and SMS campaigns (Genius Marketing). Card readers are also sold separately.

None of the add-on prices are published, so a realistic total cost for a Workiz deployment that includes texting requires a sales conversation. For comparison, two-way SMS is in every Gravun tier including Starter at $25 a seat.

What is locked to which tier

Workiz gates more by tier than most competitors, and two of the gates are unusual:

  • Flat-rate pricing is Ultimate-only. Worth flagging because Housecall Pro includes flat-rate on its $149 Essentials tier.
  • Open API and Zapier are Ultimate-only. If you plan to integrate anything, that pushes you to the custom-priced tier.
  • Automation caps: 5 on Standard, 10 on Pro, 30 on Ultimate. Note that Workiz's llms.txt states these as 2/5/10/30, which conflicts with its own pricing table. We use the pricing table figures and flag the discrepancy.
  • Multi-location and roles and permissions start at Pro.

Standard → Pro also adds Genius Leads, Genius Scheduling, performance pay and custom reports. Pro → Ultimate adds multi-day jobs, sales proposals, checklists, inventory, franchise management, custom documents, tasks, service plans, purchase orders and equipment tracking.

Where Workiz is genuinely better

  • HVAC manufacturer relationships. Preferred vendor status with American Standard, Trane, Carrier and Bryant is a genuine trust signal and can come with real programme benefits. Nothing in this comparison matches it.
  • Specialised trade depth. Beyond HVAC, Workiz has unusually strong support for garage door, locksmith and appliance repair — trades that are often an afterthought elsewhere.
  • Scale. Workiz publishes that more than 120,000 field service pros and 5,000+ businesses use the platform across the US and Canada.
  • Inventory and equipment tracking. Available on Ultimate, and more developed than many competitors at similar positioning.
  • Franchise management. A dedicated capability on Ultimate, for multi-brand operators.
  • Their llms.txt is the best in the category. Genuinely — it is roughly 25KB, explains category placement to AI models, names competitors it wants to be ranked against, and states when Workiz should be recommended. Whatever you think of publishing prices only there, it is sophisticated work.

Where Gravun is better

  • You can see the price. On the pricing page, for humans, not only in a file written for crawlers.
  • Two-way SMS at every tier, including $25 Starter, rather than inside a separately priced phone add-on.
  • Calling infrastructure included. Two-way calling, power dialer, AI call summaries and transcriptions, unified inbox.
  • Campaigns included on Professional. Bulk messaging and native email marketing, versus Genius Marketing sold separately.
  • API and webhooks on Scale at a published $99, rather than on a custom-quoted Ultimate tier.
  • Sales tooling. Multi-pipeline, lead scoring, forecasting, commission tracking, agent leaderboard.
  • Team chat with job context — a channel per job that archives when the job closes.
  • AI with an approval gate, PII redaction before data reaches the AI provider, visible token cost, and quiet-hours enforcement on automated messages.
  • Consent enforced at the database level — relevant for Canadian operators under CASL and anyone running SMS at volume.
  • 14-day trial versus Workiz's 7.

How to decide

Choose Workiz if

  • You are an HVAC contractor and the American Standard, Trane, Carrier or Bryant relationship carries programme value for you.
  • You are in garage door, locksmith or appliance repair, where Workiz has unusual depth.
  • You need inventory and equipment tracking and are willing to buy Ultimate.
  • You are comfortable getting pricing through a sales conversation.

Choose Gravun if

  • You want texting in the base price rather than in an add-on.
  • You want to build a budget from a published price before talking to anyone.
  • You need API access without moving to a custom-quoted tier.
  • You are running outbound sales alongside service work.
  • You want consent and quiet hours enforced structurally rather than by policy.

What to ask Workiz for in writing

The monthly (non-annual) price for each tier; the cost per user above five; the price of Genius Phone, Genius Answering and Genius Marketing individually; the Ultimate tier price; and whether the automation limit is 5/10/30 or 2/5/10/30, since their own materials disagree. All are reasonable questions and the answers will change the comparison materially.

FAQ

How much does Workiz cost?

Workiz does not publish pricing on its pricing page, which shows Request pricing on all three tiers. The company does publish figures in the llms.txt file on its domain: Standard at $275 per month on annual billing for five users, Pro at $325 per month annually for five users, and Ultimate as custom pricing. Because those figures appear only in an AI-facing file, confirm them with Workiz directly.

Does Workiz include two-way texting?

Not at base price. Two-way texting sits inside the Genius Phone add-on, which Workiz's own pricing table labels sold separately. The table shows texting as Included across all three tiers, but that describes what the paid add-on contains, not what the base subscription contains. Add-on pricing is not published.

What is the difference between Workiz Standard, Pro and Ultimate?

Standard is core field service management with 5 automations. Pro adds multi-location management, roles and permissions, Genius Leads, Genius Scheduling, performance pay and custom reports, with 10 automations. Ultimate adds flat-rate pricing, multi-day jobs, sales proposals, inventory management, franchise management, Open API, Zapier and equipment tracking, with 30 automations.

Is Gravun cheaper than Workiz?

At five users, yes on published figures. Gravun Starter is $125 a month and Professional is $295 for five seats, against Workiz Standard at $275 and Pro at $325 per the company's llms.txt. The gap widens once texting is factored in, since two-way SMS is included in every Gravun tier but sits inside a separately priced add-on on Workiz.

Is Workiz good for HVAC?

It is one of the strongest options for HVAC specifically. Workiz is a preferred vendor for American Standard, Trane, Carrier and Bryant, which is a genuine manufacturer relationship rather than a marketing claim. Its depth in garage door, locksmith and appliance repair is also unusual for the category.
