Gravun vs ServiceTitan: An Honest Comparison for HVAC and Plumbing Contractors (2026)

Published September 19, 2026 · Gravun Team · Comparisons

TL;DR: ServiceTitan is the most capable field service platform in the category and the most expensive way to find that out. It publishes no pricing at all — three tiers, three "Request Pricing" buttons, zero dollar figures.

The part that deserves more attention than the price is the contract. ServiceTitan's own Terms of Use state that ending the agreement early means paying all the remaining payments, that all fees are non-refundable, and that a seat you have paid for cannot be unassigned without ServiceTitan's written approval. Implementation takes 12 to 16 weeks by their own published estimate.

Gravun publishes $25, $59 and $99 per user per month, sets up in under a day, and has no termination clause because there is nothing to terminate. If you need ServiceTitan's depth, buy ServiceTitan. Just read the Order Form first.

What each company publishes about price

This is the cleanest difference between the two products and it takes thirty seconds to verify yourself.

ServiceTitan's pricing page lists three tiers — Starter, Essentials and The Works — and not one dollar figure. Each tier carries a "Request Pricing" button. The page describes the model without the number: "Our per-technician pricing is designed to fit your business and goals, at any size."

They are consistent about it in a way worth noticing. The structured data embedded in that page declares the price machine-readably as ContactForPrice, which is the schema.org value meaning there is no published price. Capterra lists all three tiers as "Custom Quote". Software Advice says "Pricing available upon request."

A warning about what you will find instead. Search for ServiceTitan pricing and you will get pages confidently quoting $245–$500 per technician per month, or $398 a month, or implementation at $5,000–$50,000. We checked the sourcing on the three highest-ranking ones. One cites "the vendor's published rate card at servicetitan.com" — a document that does not exist, since ServiceTitan publishes no prices at all. Another cites two competing software vendors as its authorities. The figures do not even agree with each other: $398 a month flat and $245–$500 per technician differ by roughly five times for a five-technician shop, and no page acknowledges the conflict. Treat all of it as fiction.

Gravun's pricing is on the pricing page: $25 per user per month for Starter, $59 for Professional, $99 for Scale. Five Professional seats is $295 a month, or $2,950 a year on annual billing. You can do the arithmetic before you speak to anyone.

Neither approach is inherently dishonest. Quote-only pricing is normal for enterprise software with genuinely variable deployments. But it does mean the only way to learn what ServiceTitan costs your business is to enter a sales process, and that the comparison you want to make before that process cannot be made.

The contract terms most buyers never read

ServiceTitan's Terms of Use are public. They were last updated on 16 September 2026. Anyone can read them, and almost nobody does before a demo. Four clauses matter more than any feature on either product's page.

Early termination costs every remaining payment

"If you want to terminate the Agreement before the term of the Agreement is over, you will owe a termination fee equal to all the remaining payments and you and we agree that the termination fee is based on an agreed minimum usage commitment by you and is not a penalty."

Read that as written. Leaving early does not reduce what you owe; it accelerates it. The only exits are ServiceTitan's own uncured material breach, with 30 days' notice and a 30-day cure period, or insolvency.

The term length itself lives in the negotiated Order Form, which is not public, so we cannot tell you what you will be offered. That is precisely why it is the first thing to ask for in writing.

Fees are non-refundable

"All fees paid hereunder are non-refundable and non-recoupable."

Shrinking your team does not shrink your bill, and may raise your rate

If you are on a Minimum Subscription Level you must maintain at least that many subscriptions for the whole term. Monthly billing is calculated on the count at the start of the period, plus prorated additions, and explicitly "without reduction for subscriptions removed during the period."

If you are not on a Minimum Subscription Level, the Terms note that ServiceTitan "may elect to increase your pricing if your Field User subscription count decreases over time." For a seasonal trade, that asymmetry is worth modelling before you sign.

You cannot reassign a seat without permission

A paid authorised user cannot be unassigned before the end of the subscription period, and not "without the written approval of ServiceTitan." If a technician leaves in month three of a twelve-month term, that seat is not automatically yours to redeploy.

None of this is hidden — it is on their website in plain language. It is simply not what most contractors are thinking about during a product demo.

12 to 16 weeks versus under a day

ServiceTitan publishes its own implementation estimate: "The ServiceTitan implementation process lasts 12 to 16 weeks." The phases are project kickoff, data discovery and integration at roughly four weeks, build and configure, end-user testing and training at about two weeks, a go-live described as "a hard cut-off", then four weeks of hypercare support.

That is a serious, well-run process and it is appropriate for the complexity of the product. It is also a quarter of your year, during which your team is learning software instead of running jobs, and it typically carries professional services fees on top of the subscription. ServiceTitan's Terms reference implementation fees and list professional services as a separately contracted item; they publish no amount.

Gravun sets up in under a day. That is a real difference in kind, not degree — but it is also a fair reflection of the two products' scope. A platform that handles AIA progress billing and multi-entity construction financials should take longer to configure than one that does not.

Where ServiceTitan is genuinely better

A comparison that finds no merit in the other product is an advertisement. ServiceTitan's advantages are substantial and some of them are things Gravun does not attempt.

  • Construction and commercial depth. Progress billing, AIA pay applications, RFIs and change orders, project financials, daily logs. If you run commercial projects alongside service work, this is a category of capability, not a feature gap.
  • Scale and maturity. Founded in 2007, publicly traded on NASDAQ since December 2024, roughly 2,870 employees. For a company betting its operations on a vendor, that is a legitimate risk consideration.
  • Breadth of trade coverage. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, fire and life safety, roofing, garage door, chimney, septic, irrigation, pool, water treatment, and more, with sibling products for pest control, lawn care and landscaping.
  • Specialised modules. Fleet management with hardware, LiDAR-based HVAC load calculations, commercial prospecting tools. Nobody else in the category builds this far out.
  • Users who get through implementation tend to like it. On G2, ease of use is the single most-praised attribute, cited in 29 reviews. Comprehensive features and reporting rank high too.

If you are a 40-technician commercial mechanical contractor doing AIA billing, this comparison is not close and ServiceTitan is your answer.

Where Gravun is better

  • You can see the price. $25, $59, $99. No sales process required to build a budget.
  • No termination clause to negotiate. There is no multi-year commitment, no remaining-payments exposure, and no written approval needed to move a seat between employees.
  • Communications are included, not modular. Two-way SMS and email, two-way calling, a power dialer, AI call summaries, a unified inbox and campaigns are in the platform. On ServiceTitan, the PowerDialer requires a Contact Center Pro subscription plus advanced seats, and marketing automation largely lives behind Marketing Pro.
  • Team chat with job context. Gravun Relay gives a channel per job that archives when the job closes. ServiceTitan's technician messaging is delivered as SMS to phones from the dispatch board — useful, but not internal team chat, and its "two-way chat" feature is customer-facing.
  • AI with an approval gate. Gravun's assistant requires human approval before anything reaches a customer, redacts personally identifiable information before data leaves for the AI provider, shows token cost, and enforces quiet hours. ServiceTitan's September 2026 Terms added an extensive autonomous "AI Actions" clause; there is no equivalent approval gate.
  • Multi-currency and white-label. Gravun supports 29 currencies and offers white-label branding on Scale. We found no documented multi-currency support in ServiceTitan — its fees are contractually in US dollars and it lists support for the US, Canada and Australia in English only — and no platform white-labelling beyond putting your logo on customer documents.
  • Consent enforced in the database. For Canadian operators under CASL and anyone running SMS at volume, consent as a data-layer constraint rather than a UI checkbox is an architectural difference.

What actual users say

ServiceTitan holds 4.4 out of 5 from 375 reviews on G2, 4.3 from 340 on Capterra, and 7.3 out of 10 from 44 on TrustRadius. Capterra and Software Advice are both Gartner-owned and share a review pool, so treat them as one source rather than two.

The criticisms cluster with unusual consistency. On G2, the most-cited themes are a steep learning curve and setup difficulty (17 reviews), bugs and feature issues (15), and support problems (22 across two themes). Capterra's summarised negative is "High and variable pricing concerns."

The honest reading: the complaints are about getting in and getting out, not about whether the software works. Support is simultaneously ServiceTitan's second-most-praised attribute (24 reviews) and among its most criticised — it is polarised, not uniformly poor. Capterra sentiment runs 84% positive.

One caution when researching: ServiceTitan's own page markup asserts a 4.5 rating from 1,701 reviews, unattributed to any platform. That figure matches no third-party source we could find. Cite the review platforms directly.

How to decide

Choose ServiceTitan if

  • You do commercial or construction work needing progress billing, AIA applications or change orders.
  • You have 20+ technicians and the operational maturity to absorb a 12–16 week implementation.
  • You want the deepest feature set in the category and can fund it.
  • You have someone who will read the Order Form properly before signing.

Choose Gravun if

  • You want to know what software costs before entering a sales process.
  • A multi-year commitment with a remaining-payments termination clause is not something you will sign.
  • Your headcount moves seasonally and you need seats to flex both directions.
  • You are running outbound sales alongside service work and want the dialer, pipeline and campaigns bundled.
  • You need to be running this month, not next quarter.

Before you sign anything with either of us

Ask for the Order Form in writing and read the term length, the Minimum Subscription Level and the termination clause. Ask what implementation costs as a number. Ask which capabilities are add-on modules at what price. Any vendor unwilling to put those three answers in writing has told you something useful.

FAQ

How much does ServiceTitan cost?

ServiceTitan does not publish pricing. Its pricing page shows three tiers — Starter, Essentials and The Works — with no dollar figures and a "Request Pricing" button on each, and its page markup declares the price as ContactForPrice. The company states that pricing is per technician. Any article quoting a specific ServiceTitan rate is not citing the vendor, because the vendor publishes none.

What is ServiceTitan's cancellation policy?

According to ServiceTitan's published Terms of Use, terminating the agreement before the end of the term means owing a termination fee equal to all the remaining payments, which the agreement states is not a penalty. All fees paid are described as non-refundable and non-recoupable. The only stated exits are ServiceTitan's own uncured material breach after a 30-day cure period, or insolvency.

How long does ServiceTitan take to implement?

ServiceTitan publishes an estimate of 12 to 16 weeks. The process covers project kickoff, about four weeks of data discovery and integration, build and configuration, roughly two weeks of testing and training, a go-live described as a hard cut-off, and four weeks of hypercare support afterwards.

Is Gravun a real alternative to ServiceTitan?

For residential and light commercial service businesses, yes. Gravun covers CRM, pipeline, quoting, scheduling, job costing, invoicing, payments, calling and campaigns at $25 to $99 per user per month with no commitment. For commercial contractors needing AIA progress billing, RFIs and construction project financials, ServiceTitan does things Gravun does not attempt.

Does ServiceTitan have a free trial?

No. Capterra lists ServiceTitan as offering neither a free trial nor a free version, and the company works through demos and a sales process instead. Gravun offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
